Last updated October 31, 2026

This Website Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) describes how Therapy with Laury (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from visitors of our website, www.therapywithlaury.com (the “Site”; www.laurymonk.com forwards to it).

This policy applies solely to information collected through this public-facing website and does not apply to Protected Health Information (PHI) collected during formal clinical treatment.

1. Crucial Clinical Disclosures & Emergency Warning

Not for Emergencies or Urgent Communications

The contact forms and email links on this Site are intended for routine inquiries and consultation scheduling only. They are not monitored 24/7. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, suicidal thoughts, or are in danger, please immediately dial 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.

No Therapist-Client Relationship Formed

Visiting this Site, reading our content, sending an email, or submitting an inquiry via our contact form does not create a therapist-client or professional healthcare relationship. A clinical relationship is only established after an initial consultation, formal assessment, and the mutual execution of written clinical intake and informed consent agreements.

Separation of Website Data and Protected Health Information (PHI)

General Website Inquiries: Unencrypted website contact forms are not secure channels for transmitting confidential health information. Please do not submit medical histories, diagnostic details, or sensitive clinical information through this Site.

Clinical Health Records: Once you become an active client, your health information is protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA). Our clinical privacy practices are outlined in our separate Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP), provided during client intake.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information on this Site in two ways:

A. Information You Voluntarily Provide

When you submit a contact or consultation form on our Site, you may provide:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Preferred consultation times or general nature of inquiry

B. Information Collected Automatically (Hosting & Analytics)

When you navigate the Site, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, automatically records non-identifying technical data via server logs. Our analytics tool, Umami, records aggregate, non-identifying usage data without cookies. This data may include:

  • Device and browser type, operating system, and language preferences
  • IP address (processed by Cloudflare for security; not stored by our analytics)
  • Referring URLs, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and navigation patterns
  • Basic geographic location (city/state level)
  • The number of contact form submissions (a count only; the contents of the form are not recorded by our analytics)

3. How We Use Collected Information

We use the information collected on our Site strictly for operational and communication purposes:

  • To respond to inquiries: Answering questions, returning phone calls, and coordinating initial consultation appointments.
  • To operate and protect our Site: Ensuring network security, preventing spam or cyber threats, and diagnosing technical issues.
  • To improve website usability: Reviewing aggregate, anonymized traffic data to understand which resources visitors find helpful.

We do not use visitor information for automated profiling, behavioral advertising, or automated decision-making.

4. Third-Party Service Providers & Sharing

We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We disclose website data only to trusted service providers who assist us in operating our Site, under strict confidentiality obligations:

  • Website Hosting & Infrastructure: Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages), which hosts this Site and processes standard server logs.
  • Website Analytics: Umami, a cookie-free analytics tool that reports aggregate traffic without identifying individual visitors.
  • Secure Client Portal / EHR: If you book an appointment or access client forms, you may be redirected to our HIPAA-compliant electronic health record provider TherapyNotes, which maintains its own administrative and encryption standards.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or when necessary to protect personal safety or comply with mandatory reporting duties under California law.
  • Contact Form: When you send our contact form, your name, email address, optional phone number and contact preference are passed by our website host (Cloudflare) to our Google Workspace account, which emails them to us and sends you an automatic confirmation email. The form contents are not stored on the website.
  • Appointment Scheduling: We utilize Google Calendar (Google Workspace) to facilitate consultation bookings. When you use the scheduling link in our confirmation email, the information you provide (such as your name, email address, and selected appointment time) is processed by Google in accordance with our strict data protection agreements and Google’s privacy protocols.

5. California Privacy Rights (CalOPPA, CCPA / CPRA, Shine the Light)

If you are a California resident, California law provides specific rights regarding your personal information:

A. Do Not Track (DNT) & Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We respect browser-based opt-out signals. If your browser transmits a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we honor it in accordance with California law. Our analytics do not use cookies or identify individual visitors.

B. No Sale or Cross-Context Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell personal information, nor do we share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use third-party tracking pixels (such as Meta/Facebook Pixel).

C. California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA) Rights

To the extent applicable to our small business practice, California residents have the right to:

  • Right to Know / Access: Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected about you through this Site.
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal information collected via our website (subject to statutory and clinical record retention exceptions).
  • Right to Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate against you, deny services, or alter rates because you exercised any of your privacy rights.

D. California “Shine the Light” Law (Civil Code § 1798.83)

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request information regarding disclosures of personal data to third parties for direct marketing. Because we never disclose personal data to third parties for direct marketing, this is not applicable to our operations.

To submit a privacy rights request, contact us using the details in Section 10.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our Site uses only essential cookies to ensure secure operations. Our analytics (Umami) do not use cookies. For detailed information on the specific cookies we use and how to control your preferences, please review our Cookie Policy.

We maintain physical, technical, and administrative safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. All connections to our Site are encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL/TLS) technology. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage method is completely impenetrable; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
